Thought for the day: What Made Galen Rowell Successful as a Travel/Adventure Photographer?
While Galen was a very good photographer, there were other good photographers back then beside him. His physical skills (climbing, running) did help with some famous shots. However probably the main reason he was so successful was the marketing team. In addition to doing photography he spent part of his time doing marketing. His wife, also a photographer, spent maybe half her time doing marketing. And then he had a team of 3-5 full time people also doing marketing and sales.
So 4-6 people working full time to support one photographer.

If you don’t know his work I recommend his book “Mountain Light: In Search of the Dynamic Landscape.”
